23rd July 2010 NEWSLETTER Dear Parents It was not the end of school year that I was expecting or wanted but three days in Wonford hospital does put a different perspective on life. I thank God for the skills of the doctors and nurses in the Cardiac Care Unit for looking after me and the many more serious cases that have passed through the ward. I have had severe pericarditis, inflammation of the sac surrounding my heart. I am recovering well but need to take it easy for a few weeks. I will however, come into school tomorrow to say farewell to our wonderful year 6 children. I am sorry that I have missed all this week’s events: the performances, the special assemblies and the fun. This means I have not had the opportunity to congratulate all the children on their excellent progress, attainment and achievement over this year – a very successful one for the school. I would have liked to thank all the parents for their support and involvement over the year in person and say what a great credit their children have been to them and to the school. I would also have liked to thank publicly the teachers and other staff for their continuing hard work and excellence in teaching and caring for the children. I hope you all remember to thank them. A big thanks is also due to members of the PTA who make such a significant contribution to our school. We truly appreciate all you have done for the school – thank you again Liz Price and PTA committee for your tremendous support. I wish all the year 6 children all the best for their futures and great success within their new schools. For everybody I wish you all a happy, sunny, enjoyable summer holiday and I look forward to seeing you all again in September, ready for the challenges that the next school year brings. We say goodbye and thank you to Mrs Emerson, Mrs Trim and Miss Hampton who are leaving, and congratulations to Miss Teague who will be returning in September as Mrs Jameson! School closes at 1.00pm tomorrow, Friday 23rd July, and children return on Thursday 2nd September 2010. CAMP WILD On the 12th and 13th July, Year 4 experienced a brand new trip at Escot Park’s ‘Camp Wild’. An absolutely fantastic time was had by children and staff alike and we would love to make this an annual event for our Year 4 children. The children were exceptional while at Camp Wild and were complimented by Vic Siddle-Virok (Camp Wild Manager). “I’ve worked with thousands of children all over the world and have been so impressed with your children, they’re so polite and have been willing to have a go at everything; they are a credit to you” she said. Congratulations Year 4 on a great trip.
CINDERELLA & ROCKERFELLA On Monday and Tuesday, Years 5 and 6 did a Cinderella and Rockerfella production. It was a great success. The audience booed, hissed, cheered and laughed (at the right times!). We had a lot of fun and the audience did too. By Naomi E and Eleanor T. SWIMMING POOL PLANS Can we remind you that we would like your support in our bid for funding for the swimming pool. EDDC has £75,000 to spend on sport/recreation in Seaton and you can support our bid by voting at the town hall.
